So I have been slacking on the blogging recently but with good reason. I just got home from skiing in Haines, Alaska with Andy Rosenberg, Nick Devore, Will Cardamone, still photog Jay Beyer and Noah Howell of PW productions. This is my 5th spring pilgrimage up to AK to ski. In those 5 years I have endured many a down day sitting in tents and rv’s waiting for the weather to break. Somehow the down days all just blurr into one and it just becomes part of the Alaska experience. Down days in Haines involved wandering around town, hanging at the Mountain Market, looking at maps and photos of zones, fishing, reading and sleeping. So let’s start off with a post on spending our down days in Haines. We were hoping to hop off the ferry at Haines and fly out to the glacier the same day, tour around surrounding zones and camp on the glacier until the day we had to catch the ferry back to Juneau. Hoping is the key word here. That would be too easy, that just wouldn’t be Alaska. So instead we showed up in Haines and waited for 4 days until the weather cleared enough that our pilot, Drake, could get us safely onto the glacier. Once on the glacier we were only able to stay for five days, four nights until Drake had to get us out while he could with a major storm moving in that could have possibly pinned us well passed our planned ferry to Juneau to catch a plane home. So we had plenty of down time here is how we spent some of it.
Jay likes to sleep.

Nick likes to slackline.

Will likes to fish.

Me, Nick and Will psyched about dinner tonight!

Will, a little less psyched but still pretty fired up.
